Meeting your heroes can change your life. And that’s what’s happening to the upcoming act, New Aesthetic. The San Diego, CA-based band received a message from frontman J.T. Woodruff of Hawthorne Heights to work together.

“There’s a kid holding a sign that says, ‘Let me play guitar on ‘Ohio Is For Lovers,’” the emo vocalist explains in an Instagram Reel. He continues that he met a fan during one of their stops on the 2017 Warped Tour run. “Flash forward, that kid’s name is Dylan he’s now an adult. He now has his own band called New Aesthetic.” He then asks a question that every artist dreams of hearing from one of their favorite bands: “We have our own music festival. New Aesthetic, would you like to play California’s Is For Lovers this year?”

Music runs in Dylan’s family, it seems. His father commented under the original video on Hawthorne HeightsInstagram, saying, “So proud of my kiddo and the guys.” This Wild Life singer, Kevin Jordan, also said, “This is so fucking rad!!!”

The pop-punk act reposted the video on their Instagram Stories with “NEW AESTHETIC IS FOR LOVERS.” It’s safe to say they said “Yes, To The Fest.”

The West Coast pop-punkers recently put out a new song called “Screaming Out,” along with a music video that emulates veterans blink-182’s video for “The Rock Show.” The opening for their rendition is title cards about an outlandish budget, leaving the country, and the chaos aftermath the young band creates. With fast drums and melodic, catchy lyrics, they showcase that the next generation of the alternative scene is most certainly going to be more than okay.
