Halsey released her latest album, IF I CAN’T HAVE LOVE, I WANT POWER, back in 2021, an instant classic. Produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, it was a dark and seductive display of industrial pop that pushed and pulled at boundaries unlike anything else in Halsey’s story up until now. It featured tracks like “Lilith”, a statement of feminine intent designed to get stuck in your head. And now, there is a new version of the track created for the new game Diablo IV. And it is something else.
Taking the bare bones of the track and painting it pitch black, adding in cold steel and white-hot fury. It also features a new verse from SUGA, of BTS fame, who adds in even more intensity than we already have on our hands. The result is even more destructive, decadent and devilish than anything else that the album had to offer. It shows off even more of what Halsey is capable of, and how they have surprises up their sleeves even after all these years.
