Following a sensational tour alongside viral internet rapper Jake Hill, Oliver Francis, and Cherie Amour, guccihighwaters has dropped his transcendental new single, “make it to heaven,” courtesy of Epitaph Records. The haunting new offering was brought to life alongside producers Mason Sacks (Post Malone, FKA Twigs) and Cole M.G.N. (Beck). “make it to heaven” sees guccihighwaters delve into the meaning of life and the pursuit to live by your own standards not delegrated by any religious organization.

Across “make it to heaven,” guccihighwaters navigates an amalgamation of raw emotion channeled through his ambient vocal delivery, haunting harmonies, and lush rhythmic beats, honing in on his personal brand of otherworldly alternative R&B. The track draws on the dark sentiment of “sin” through lyrics such as “cus we both met the devil/where the hills have eyes/oh yeah we been thru hell and back/i guess that’s why we burn and turn to ash.” This ultimately poses the question that if you live by “sin” then will you make it to heaven?

“I wrote this song about not adhering to any religion, which in turn makes me live a life of ‘sin,’” guccihighwaters explains of “make it to heaven.” “But in this track, I explain that it’s going to be okay. We can still get ‘high,’ meaning we can still enjoy life however we want, and we have each other at the end of it all.”
