blink-182 are back out on tour and have performed their new track “MORE THAN YOU KNOW” for the first time. The song is one of the two that the band released on the announcement of their new album ONE MORE TIME…. That album is set to be released on October 20. It marks the first release to feature Mark, Tom and Travis since 2012’s Dogs Eating Dogs EP. A monumental time in any timeline. Yet when the songs that are set to appear on it are this powerful, it means even more. There’s the heartbreaking title track, and then there’s the raucous vulnerability of “MORE THAN YOU KNOW”. And with the band continuing the European leg of their world tour, it was time to bring them into the setlist.
It was in Madrid on October 3 that “MORE THAN YOU KNOW” got its live debut. Placed in the setlist between “Feeling This” and “Violence“, from their 2003 classic Untitled, it’s a fitting spot for it to live. The energy and darkness of the song match the emotions that were on show on that album 20 years ago. A period that signalled a shift in what to expect from the band, “MORE THAN YOU KNOW” pretty much does the same job with this new era.

When presented in a live setting, the words and sentiments get taken up another notch completely. Tom’s voice sounds powerful, the words reverberating out of his throat with all of the pain and heartache he must have felt writing them. Mark’s bass feels thunderous, cascading off the walls of the room they are in and leaving you breathless. Travis feels like he is hitting those drums that little bit harder, knowing that there was a time when this all might not have been possible. The three members of blink-182 are very much back on the same page. The result is performances like this that stick with you long after they are over.
Plus, hearing the crowd sing along to songs like this already is enough to get a lump in your throat. You can check out some fan-shot footage of the performance below.
