Aaron West And The Roaring Twenties know how to make a comeback. Today, the ensemble has released their third single, “Alone At St. Luke’s” from their upcoming album, In Lieu Of Flowers. The album will arrive on April 12 and continue the narrative story of the evolving, fictional life of Aaron West.

Boisterous vocals, glorious trumpets, and tied together with banging drums, the group delivers a song that triumphantly draws a scene of hopeful desperation. Vocalist Dan Campbell explains that this song came from a COVID contraction during the band’s 2022 UK tour. “It became an indelible part of the story. Our best-laid plans were immediately dashed again on the rocks of the pandemic, but this new narrative constriction forced a shift in my approach to the story that sent the record spinning in a new and better direction.”

The single is anthemic with how upbeat it is throughout up until it reaches the outro. It shimmers down appropriately to bring the full retrospection into view about how quickly something fun can shift into a difficult situation. And in the end, leaving you with the realities of what’s to come, which Campbell knows how to beautifully illustrate through his world-building songwriting.
