100 gecs Have Remixed System Of A Down’s “Toxicity”

100 gecs are one of the most uniquely unpredictable bands to have made their way into the alternative consciousness over the last half a decade. Producing music that pulls from emo, indie, pop, trap, metal, rap and meme culture, just to name a few, their abrasive and outrageous blends of noises put them as an outlier in a community that often gets bogged down in safety.

And such a streak of creativity was evident in the duo’s recent Boiler Room set for Apple Music. Taking place in Los Angeles to a crowd who had no idea what was coming, Laura Les and Dylan Brady pulled out all the stops to make it one of the most joyous and jarring displays ever. From drum and bass chaos to trance classics, dubstep devastation to salsa deviations, there was something for everyone. There was even a chance for a premiere of their new rework of System Of A Down’s classic track “Toxicity”.

Taking the iconic vocal lines and throwing them over a blend of crunching synths, laser-pointed bass and woozy atmospheres, it’s a complete transformation and a perfect indicator of just how far the 100 gecs universe stretches.
