Melisma/Atlantic recording artist Rob Thomas has announced plans for his first-ever solo concert tour. The special 11-city, cross-country itinerary heralds the April 19th release of Thomas’ debut solo album, “…SOMETHING TO BE.” The tour kicks off on Friday, April 15th at The Fillmore in San Francisco and wraps up on April 30th at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. It seems that things really are “unwell” in the Matchbox Twenty camp, as guitarist Adam Gaynor has reportedly left the band. According to Billboard.com, after being with Matchbox Twenty throughout their three albums – which have sold 20 million copies worldwide – the guitarist has left without any official statement. The band have also remained tight-lipped, but a source told Billboard that the band didn’t want to “renew his services.” Ouch. Carlos Santana is hard at work on the follow-up to his 1999 mega-seller Supernatural, but Matchbox Twenty singer Rob Thomas-who co-wrote and sang on that album’s Grammy-winning single, “Smooth”-says the guitar legend is taking a different path on this outing.
