Fall Out Boy‘s Patrick Stump might be the well-known face of pop-punk and scene music, but in his heart, he is an OG ska fan. So much so, that the singer was recently interviewed for the upcoming second expanded edition of In Defense Of Ska by author and journalist Aaron Carnes. Just weeks after Tim Armstrong reunited with Operation Ivy’s Jesse Michaels for the announcement of their new band Bad Optix, Armstrong’s legendary punk rock group Rancid has delivered their new single “Tomorrow Never Comes.” Along with the titular track release, the group has announced their first new album since 2017’s Trouble Maker. Produced by Epitaph founder and Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz, Rancid’s forthcoming album Tomorrow Never Comes will arrive on June 2 via Epitaph and Hellcat Records (Armstrong’s label imprint under Epitaph). The second annual “Plea for Peace: Take Action” tour, which benefits National Hopeline Network 1-800-SUICIDE, features different lineups on different legs of the trek. Two of the bands most responsible for the commercial popularity of melodic punk rock in the 1990s have come together for the coast-to-coast Pop Disaster tour, which touched down Wednesday at the nearly sold-out Forum after two big outdoor shows the previous weekend in Irvine. Both groups approached the show with a workmanlike greatest-hits mentality that was just a tad disappointing.
