Keith Richards signs up for 'Pirates'


A minor career change for the guitar legend Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards will make an appearance in the next Pirates of the Caribbean flick, the franchise’s producer has revealed. Richards famed rock and roll persona was famously the inspiration for Johnny Depp’s Academy Award-nominated role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the two previous films, and will make a cameo appearance at Sparrow’s father, it is rumoured, for the third outing. Paul McCartney, Keith Richards Salute Johnny Cash On Upcoming Retrospective


Paul McCartney and Rolling Stones singer-guitarist Keith Richards are among those paying tribute to Johnny Cash on an upcoming two-disc career retrospective. The Essential Johnny Cash, due February 26 from Columbia/Legacy Records, features more than 30 testimonials to Cash from artists including McCartney, Richards, Bono and the Edge of U2, Elvis Costello, former Vice President Al Gore, and even Shawn Crahan of the heavy metal band Slipknot. As news of Thursday’s (November 29) death of George Harrison spread through the music world, Rolling Stones Mick Jagger and Keith Richards issued the following statements. New York – The Rolling Stones recently concluded recording sessions for a new album in Paris with producer Don Was, who worked with them on their two previous studio releases. The band will reconvene in the New Year for additional sessions for an album tentatively due in summer 2005, Was told Billboard.com. Richards Criticizes Jagger for Knighthood


Keith Richards has criticized his old friend and fellow Rolling Stone Mick Jagger for accepting a knighthood. Largest pop music archive puts catalog online


NEW YORK — A catalog of the world’s largest archive of popular music – which includes gems like Keith Richards’ old blues records – is going online. The materials at the ARChive of Contemporary Music in Tribeca will be available for public inspection under the agreement with Columbia University  announced last week. The ARChive includes more than 2 million recordings, 3 million photographs, books, press kits, videos and memorabilia.
