Rock stars Bob Dylan (news), Billy Joel (news) and James Taylor (news) filed a lawsuit against Vivendi Universal’s MP3.com music Web site for allegedly distributing their songs without authorization, sources familiar with the suit said on Tuesday. A spokesman for MP3.com declined comment. Sources familiar with both the artists and the company said they had been made aware of the lawsuit in the last few days. The artists are not the first to sue MP3.com, which was the target of major litigation brought against it on behalf of the world’s major record labels in January 2000 for infringement. Having a song on the successful “Spider-Man” soundtrack hasn’t gone to Corey Taylor’s head. Actually, “Bother” has deflated the Slipknot frontman’s ego… or superego, as it were. Taylor has forgone using Superego as the moniker for his now-unnamed side project, who hope to release their debut in late summer or early fall, according to a Roadrunner Records spokesperson. Taylor’s Slipknot bandmate Jim Root (guitar) joins him in the endeavor, as do two members of their previous band, Stone Sour, and an acquaintance from the group’s hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. Just days away from the release of their highly anticipated, independently issued EP, SH!T YEAH, dropping this Friday, April 5, Between You & Me has unveiled the final preview of their forthcoming, 6-track collection. “Kill My Vibe,” the group’s latest offering, is an infectious, dance-worthy collaboration that features Chicago pop-punkers Knuckle Puck. Following the release of their latest full-length album, Losing What We Love, in October, Knuckle Puck has announced a string of tour dates in the UK alongside Shoreline. The Chicago natives will head overseas for four tour dates ahead of supporting Neck Deep in London, UK, at Alexandra Palace. The band was also announced today for a performance at So What?!
