I’m back with Season 6 of Cone’s Cave and since my band Sum 41 has just played our final shows I thought it’d be fitting to have a few guys from the band of my show. This week I have my great friends and bandmates Tom Thacker and Deryck Whibley on the show! As you can imagine there’s lots of stories coming your way on this episode and of coarse I touch on the end of Sum 41 and how it felt to play the last shows and how I feel now. It may sound unreal, but Sum 41 has traveled around the world on their farewell tour, and tonight, January 30 marks their final stop. They will be bidding adieu at tonight’s sold-out show at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto with PUP and Gob. Lead vocalist Deryck Whibley offered a heartfelt message to fans of the band on Instagram. On October 8, 2024, Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley launched his official memoir, Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven and Hell. In it, he shares photos and a variety of anecdotes about his childhood, experiences in the pop-punk scene, details of high-profile relationships, and near-death experiences. He also outlined the sexual and verbal abuse he allegedly suffered at the hands of the band’s former manager, Greig Nori. Now, both Nori and Whibley are suing each other in a court of law. Following the “difficult decision” to cancel their show in Brisbane, Australia yesterday, Sum 41 has been forced to cancel the remainder of their Aussie run due to vocalist Deryck Whibley’s health. In their initial statement announcing this cancellation, the band explains that Whibley has been diagnosed with pneumonia. They share, “He is receiving the best possible local care…” Unfortunately, the group has now been forced to cancel the remainder of the tour due to Whibley’s ongoing health diagnosis. After recent rumors about Deryck Whibley possibly joining Linkin Park, the Sum 41 frontman set the record straight when he let fans know that, unfortunately, he will not be the scene staple’s new lead singer. It began when Linkin Park shared a 100-hour countdown to their social channels and website, with it reaching zero on Wednesday, August 28 at 2:15 pm ET. Though, on June 1, the “Complicated” singer surprised Las Vegas attendees at the MGM Grand Garden Arena with none other than Sum 41 vocalist Deryck Whibley. The two ex-spouses and fellow pop-punk legends went on to perform “In Too Deep” together. Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley has announced that he’ll be releasing a memoir. Aptly titled Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven And Hell, after different songs from the pop-punker’s popular act, the book will be released on Oct. 8 via Gallery Books. Fans can pre-order a copy of the book here. Whibley posted the announcement on his Instagram, saying he is “extremely honored and excited” about this opportunity. This comes after the Canadian act’s statement that they will disband later this year. Deryck Whibley has offered up an update on his health following a short stay in hospital with pneumonia, and he is ready to go!
The outpouring of support and well-wishes for Sum 41‘s frontman, Deryck Whibley, has continued persistently since last week.
