Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, who first achieved success in her music career with her “Pieces of Me,†celebrated another “Pieces†debut today as The Hershey Company adds its Pieces Candies line.
LOS ANGELES — Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is moving to Melrose Place. The 24-year-old singer will join the cast of the CW’s “Melrose Place.” Simpson-Wentz will be playing a small-town girl with a “shrewd sex kitten” within, Entertainment Weekly reported Monday. “I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of Melrose Place and I look forward to being a part of its new generation of residents,” she said in a statement in People magazine. The show is expected in the fall.
Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson welcomed a son, Bronx Mowgli Wentz, into the world late Thursday night. Ashlee Simpson and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz got married Saturday night (May 17) in an intimate ceremony. “We’re delighted to confirm that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were married this evening in front of family and close friends,” the spokesperson told the mag on Saturday, when the couple reportedly exchanged vows in front of 150 guests at her parents’ Los Angeles-area home. Ashlee Simpson has set an April 22 release date for her third Geffen album, “Bittersweet World,” which features production from Timbaland and the Neptunes’ Chad Hugo. The first official single, “Little Miss Obsessive,” boasts guest vocals from the Plain White T’s Tom Higginson. The track has yet to land on any Billboard charts. Released digitally in December, album track “Out of My Head (Ay Ya Ya)” also failed to chart but has sold 117,000 digital downloads in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. Ashlee Simpson started having difficulty with her voice during a dress rehearsal for “Saturday Night Live,” backstage footage recorded for “60 Minutes” shows. A crew from the CBS newsmagazine was on hand for a story about the late-night comedy program’s creative process, and its cameras were rolling as producers expressed concern about the Simpson, who appeared flustered during rehearsals. Simpson rushed backstage following Saturday’s rehearsal, clutching her throat and appearing to be in tears. Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz are keeping their mouths shut for gay marriage. The couple are the latest celebs to take part in NOH8, a campaign supporting efforts to overturn Proposition 8.
