Rancid And Pennywise Tour

Rancid and Pennywise are co-headlining a 10-date tour in September. Supporting bands Suicidal Tendencies, The English Beat, The Aquabats, Turnstile, Iron Reagan (I love that name so much), and Angel Du$t will change depending on the city. The tour isn’t an out of the blue attempt, Rancid and Pennywise have been keeping busy in and out of the studio, consistently playing shows in support of their most recent records. Rancid’s “Trouble Maker”, the band’s ninth studio album, was released in 2017. Trouble Maker has been hailed as the band’s best record in a decade. Pennywise is touring their effort “Never… Read more »

Blink's influence resonates in rock community

In between the raunchy humor and nudity, Blink-182 managed to make a huge impact on other bands and devoted fans. Perhaps without even knowing it – and definitely without ever really trying – Blink-182 have somehow become one of the most influential bands of the past 20 years. This might seem like a bit of a stretch. After all, aren’t these the same guys with the discography of di– jokes? The ones who gave their albums titles like “Enema of the State or Take Off Your Pants and Jacket?” Well, yes. But they’re also the same guys who featured Robert… Read more »

Travis Barker in the remix

With his spiky mohawk, cluttered canvas of tattooed skin and punk rock pedigree stretching back to childhood, Travis Barker isn’t exactly pleading to be taken seriously as a hip-hop head. A former drummer for the multi-platinum-selling power pop trio Blink-182 who also has done turns behind the kit for rock outfits including the Aquabats, +44 and Box Car Racer, he boasts impeccable Warped Tour credentials and critical props as one of modern rock’s most exciting, exacting percussion players. But a funny thing happened when Barker posted a video of himself on YouTube last September drumming thunderously in time with Southern… Read more »

Britney Spears, Pink, 'NSYNC Songs Get Punk Makeovers

The thin line between pop and punk just got thinner. Green Day, Blink-182 and Sum41 have long charmed the “TRL” audience with their pop hooks and eye candy videos, but now there’s a new crop of punk bands going after pop fans a little more directly. OK, a lot more. On Punk Goes Pop, released last month on Fearless Records, several up-and-coming punk bands cover hits from the cream of the pop star crop. Further Seems Forever speeds up ‘NSYNC’s “Bye, Bye, Bye,” Stretch Arm Strong gives Pink’s “Get the Party Started” a hardcore makeover, and the Starting Line turn… Read more »
