Eloy Casagrande just got a major promotion. The Brazilian drummer best known for his work in Sepultura was officially named the new member of Slipknot on April 30. But how did this come to be? UK pop-punk mainstays Neck Deep have announced two intimate, warm-up shows to kick off Download Festival weekend. After more than 20 years of seeking and destroying, Metallica are releasing an authorized book of their conquests titled “So What! The Metallibook by Metallica,” which should be in stores by August. The 272-page oversized book won’t be an authorized biography, it’ll be a comprehensive scrapbook featuring more than 1,000 photos, bandmembers’ drawings and roundtable discussions with Metallica. Composer, conductor and arranger Michael Kamen, who led the San Francisco Symphony in its collaboration with Metallica for the band’s 1999 S&M album, died at home in London of an apparent heart attack Tuesday (November 18), according to his publicist. He was 55. Known for being something of a rock and roll classicist, in 1974 Kamen served as musical director for David Bowie’s Diamond Dogs tour, and he’s worked on orchestrations for Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Queen, Pink Floyd and Bob Dylan.
