P.O.D. is in the studio working on the follow-up to its multi-platinum 2001 release, Satellite, and when the album is wrapped up the band will tour. Vocalist Sonny Sandoval said that Metallica wanted them for this summer’s Summer Sanitarium Tour, but the two bands will probably hook up on the road next winter.

“We’ve actually got a lot of offers to go out maybe in the beginning of the year,” Sandoval said. “And so we actually got offered the Metallica tour, but because we’ll be in the studio and our record’s not out, we didn’t get to do it. But, hopefully in January, Metallica will take us out.”

P.O.D. does have one new song out, called “Sleeping Awake,” which is the lead single from the soundtrack to the motion picture The Matrix: Reloaded.

P.O.D. recently welcomed new guitarist/songwriter Jason Truby into the fold. He replaced Marcos Curiel.
