Petti Hendrix came by the idobi Radio studios to talk all about his new EP CHOOSE LIFE, which is officially out via MDDN Records before his first show in LA in Bardot as a part of September’s Emo Nite. Since it was beforehand, I have to fill y’all in—the performance was awesome. It’s one of the only live sets I’ve gotten to see at Emo Nite and Petti proved to be a rockstar on stage. He and Hooks crushed it up there and I can’t wait for him to come back out here for a show.
For an up-and-comer—Petti has some incredible features on CHOOSE LIFE, including Awsten Knight from Waterparks and Good Charlotte. “Me and Awsten, through that time, developed like a super good relationship,” he shares. “He brought me out during two shows, we got a super good relationship, off the ‘Be Okay (RMX),’ but you know, Benji, that’s the whole team. That’s my step pop, you dig. Joel, Unc, Josh, Unc, you dig. Shout out MDDN, the whole gang.”
Petti doesn’t have many artists he looked to for inspiration it was more so based off feeling. He explains, “I’m a fan of the instrumentation of rock and all that. I’m just a fan of other legends, too, because my favorite time of rock, when I go back, is the ‘80s. I used to be infatuated with the documentaries and stuff like that. Like the Sunset Strip, how much they was having fun and stuff… So that’s how I really got into it. You know, that’s how I really got into it. But you know, like, of course, Good Charlotte, you know, the Tony Hawk games. So, it always been there. I just had to tap into it, you know? My favorite song is still ‘Stacy’s Mom.’”
