Welcome back to a brand new year of Disposable Heroes, appreciate all you guys so much for continuing to tune in! This week I have a very good friend of mine, (hell we’ve even shared my drum riser at our last show in Boston, for an epic percussive ensemble), Jonathon Ulman, from the Berklee school of music on the show!
LØLØ stopped by our studio to perform “Surgery” for us! Check it out here and be sure to comment to tell us which artists you want to see in studio next!
This week I get to reconnect with long time friend Billy Martin of the band “Good Charlotte.” I did one of my very first tours with him almost 20 years ago, we catch up and I learn how he got his start in music and what it was like for him growing up in a small town to eventually making it in one of the largest pop punk bands in the world, he’s also done some graphic novel work that you’ll also get to hear about. I loved that we got and chance to catch up, here’s his story!
LØLØ came by the studio to perform “Hurt Less”. Check it out here and be sure to comment who we should have in studio next!
20-year-old Sophia Marie has her plate full! She’s just released her first single, “Venice Beach to D.C.,” to capture her experience of moving from laid-back California to the (at times) pompous streets of Washington D.C. Sophia is currently attending Georgetown University studying International Politics. Her story is finding a balance between her love of creating and exploring the world. We had a great conversation about the growing pains of discovering your passion while not limiting your curiosities.
This week I have talented teenager Owen Rivera on my show, I’ve known this guy for half of his life and have been teaching him drums since I’ve met him. He’s gone on to sign a deal with a major label recently, he’s also an actor and voice over actor, and a multitalented musician! He plays everything! I’ve been following his career for minute now and I want you to get to know Owen, he’s someone you’ll be hearing lots about in the future.
The nerds had quite the week! We got to go to some fancy pantsy cannabis events like The Cannabis Supper Club’s collab with Wonderbrett’s Peach OZ and Stoney Slice’s first ever pop up dinner! We had so much fun and we can’t wait to share it with you.
Today the Nerds have their own version of the internet favorite “Overhead LA” and talk about Justin Bieber’s new cannabis endeavor.
Zach Hood came by the studio to play “Isabelle”!
