Backstreeter Nick Carter Avoids Jail

Looks like the Florida prison population won’t be getting a Backstreet Boy to play with. Nick Carter, the youngest (and arguably cutest) of the Backstreeters, has avoided jail time and disappointed any would-be cellmates by making a deal with prosecutors in a case stemming from a barroom altercation last month. Carter, who turned 22 last week, was arrested January 2 for allegedly disobeying a cop’s orders to leave a Tampa nightclub following a scuffle inside. On Friday, the Backstreeter agreed to enter a pretrial intervention program that, if he behaves himself, will keep him out of jail and have his… Read more »

Halftime Show: An American Tribute

U2 had the Super Bowl halftime stage all to itself, and the Irish rockers delivered a moving tribute to America and the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Lead singer Bono walked onto the field with a slow, shoulder-wagging swagger, singing the group’s recent hit, “Beautiful Day,” as he climbed onto the point of a pink, heart-shaped catwalk that surrounded the stage. As the first song wound down, a giant screen scrolled the names of victims in the attacks, and the group broke into the 1980s hit, “Where the Streets Have No Name.” The names also reflected in overlapping… Read more »

First No Singer, Now No Label For Van Halen

Having just left their label following 23 years and 11 albums, Van Halen’s career is in limbo and their future seems uncertain. The band severed ties with Warner Bros. Records last month, according to a source close to the group, who emphasized that the band willingly left the company. “There’s been a major housecleaning at the company over the last couple months, and anybody that was actually any part of anything when we were around is gone,” he said. “They’re all about taking care of their young bands now.” A publicist at Warner Bros. confirmed the band is off the… Read more »

About 200 people were in the club, and several were eyewitnesses. C-Murder’s attorney, Roy Maughan Jr., said police arrested the wrong man. “He thinks it’s very… Read more »

Britney Spears Is A Man, Baby! (In A New Movie)

While on the road last year filming his latest independent movie, director Ludi Boeken and his relatively unknown cast decided to stop at Hooters for lunch. It would have been no big deal except that one of his stars looks almost identical to Britney Spears. And, of course, he (yes, he) was dressed in character as the pop icon. “We were so used to seeing Robert as Britney, we didn’t think anything of it,” Boeken recalled. “All of a sudden we had like 800 people looking at us. He fled, and they chased him. From then on, we just brought… Read more »
