Punk as an aid for getting in touch with one’s feelings has superseded the other modes evident at this year’s Warped Tour. As in their ordinary lives, these fans had too many options. Alien Ant Farm Not At Warped Tour Closer In Detroit


The 2001 Warped tour came to a relatively subdued close on Sunday (August 12) in front 15,000 mosh-pit friendly fans at the Phoenix Plaza in the Detroit suburb of Pontiac, Michigan. Despite trepidation that the hip-hop acts D12 and Esham-booted off the tour a week and a half ago for fighting-might surface at their hometown stop (some D12 stickers were quietly distributed), the show went off peacefully and without a hitch. When the Vans Warped Tour hit Camden, New Jersey, on Friday, a longstanding Detroit rap rivalry reared up and got its participants, D12 and Esham, evicted from the lineup. Vans, Inc. Acquires Control Of The Vans Warped Tour For $4.1 Million


Vans, Inc. (NASDAQ: VANS – news) today announced that it has executed agreements to acquire 70% of the VANS Warped Tour(TM) in a two-step transaction with LAUNCH Media, Inc. and the original founders of the Tour. The transaction is subject to certain conditions prior to closing. Yahoo! To Buy Launch Media (Warped Tour) For $12 Million


Internet media network Yahoo! Inc. said on Thursday it plans to buy Webcasting company Launch Media Inc. for $12 million in an effort to boost its own music properties, which have failed to gain traction over the last two years. Yahoo is betting that Launch, which designed a Web service that tailors Internet radio playlists to the tastes of individual users, would provide key features to complement its music services. Rancid, 311, and Pennywise will help kick off the 2001 model of the Vans Warped Tour Friday (June 22) in Phoenix. Other acts featured on the seventh edition of the venerable punk tour include Alien Ant Farm, Fenix TX, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, New Found Glory, radical country act Hank 3 & Assjack, and rapper Kool Keith. Eminem To Join Warped Tour?


Looks like this year’s Vans Warped Tour could get at least one controversial guest appearance. With Eminem’s latest rap group D12 now officially hitting the road with all the punkers on the big summer fest, fans can expect the infamous Marshall Mathers to pop up for surprise performances as well. The Detroit ensemble’s first album, Devils Night will hit Virgin Megastores on Jun 19, and following the Warped Tour promotion, D12 are scheduled to spread the love in Europe.

Weezer Won't Be Playing Warped Tour


Trek’s organizers say band pulled out; group’s spokesperson says contract was never signed. Say it ain’t so – Weezer have dropped off the Vans Warped Tour, according to a spokesperson for the summer skate-punk trek. The band’s Geffen publicist, however, said on Friday (April 6) that Weezer were never officially on the bill in the first place, despite an announcement by tour organizer Kevin Lyman Productions in early February. “They had the offer, but they never confirmed it,” Dennis Dennehy said. “The band apologizes for psyching anyone up inadvertently,” a posting on Weezer’s Web site said Friday. Warped Tour Bands, Dates Confirmed


Rancid, Weezer, 311, Kool Keith, Pennywise, Rollins Band, and the Misfits are some of the bigger artists confirmed to play the annual Vans Warped Tour, set to kick off June 22 in Phoenix. An official announcement of participating venues and additional acts for the nearly two-month tour is expected within two weeks. Making its Warped Tour debut this year will be Incredibly Strange Wrestling, a hybrid of punk rock and hardcore wrestling. Underoath Plots Spring Tour, Warped Dates


Underoath is taking to the road for a seven-week tour beginning next Thursday (Feb. 22) at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pa. As previously reported , the trek comes on the heels of drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespie’s tour with his side project, the Almost.
