As of Thursday, the world’s largest media company will officially drop “AOL” from its name and be known as “Time Warner Inc.,” as it was before it announced a merger with America Online at the height of the Internet boom in early 2000. The company’s shares will also resume trading under their former ticker symbol of “TWX” on the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday, instead of the current “AOL.” The company will also change its Web site to www.timewarner.com from www.aoltimewarner.com. Nearly a year after software maker Roxio Inc. scooped up the Napster brand from the ashes of the pioneer file-swapping service, a revamped online music store bearing the familiar brand name debuted Thursday in limited release. The company shelved its former online music service, pressplay, and began moving subscribers to a beta, or test version, of Napster 2.0. Hanson, who parted ways with Island Def Jam in May, announced on Wednesday the formation of their own 3CG Records label, which will issue their new album, Underneath, in the spring. Underneath will contain several songs that Zac, Isaac and Taylor Hanson have already issued on their Underneath Acoustic EP, currently on sale via their Web site. Police responding to a burglary call arrested Courtney Love in Los Angeles early Thursday morning for allegedly being under the influence of narcotics, according to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department. Hanson will bop into Carnegie Hall for the final show of their acoustic tour.
