The Ritchie family are going to make a movie together. Madonna and hubby Guy Ritchie have agreed to remake the 70’s Italian love story ‘Swept Away’. This will be the third time Mr. and Mrs. Madonna have worked together. He directed her video for ‘What It Feels Like For A Girl’ and she starred in his mini-movie Internet advertisement for BMW. Brian McKnight has been tapped to join the Sears, Roebuck and Co. family for a nationwide tour that coincides with the release of McKnight’s latest Motown project, “superhero,” streeting Aug. 28. The “Sears Presents An Evening With Brian McKnight” tour kicks off in Cleveland on Sept. 19, with stops in 38 cities, wrapping up in Hawaii in December. Napster plans to appeal a crushing decision handed down by a federal judge that the company remain off-line until it can perfect its song-swapping system. U.S. District Judge Marilyn Hall shot down the notion that Napster could quietly come back online without 100 percent effectiveness in its song-screening technology after an injunction that it remove all copyright music. Napster told Patel in a closed-door meeting Wednesday that it could promise more than 99 percent effectiveness. SFX today announced that effective immediately the company is changing its name to Clear Channel Entertainment. The company has also announced the several executive management appointments and promotions, including the appointment of Steve Smith as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and the creation of a new Television operating group to capitalize on intellectual properties of the company. Garbage have pushed back the release of Beautiful Garbage until September, but they’re teasing fans by offering a complete track listing for their third album, which they finished recording in April. The album was recorded at drummer/producer Butch Vig’s Smart Studios in Madison, Wisconsin, and had been expected to hit stores this summer. Beautiful Garbage will contain 13 tracks, including “Drive You Home” and “Cup of Coffee” – tunes that singer Shirley Manson wrote about in her studio diary on the band’s Web site over the winter. Citing an inability to find a suitable replacement for Sinead O’Connor, the Pet Shop Boys’ gay summer outing, Wotapalava, has been postponed. The 18-market tour was originally scheduled to kick off on July 13 in Miami and feature the Pet Shop Boys, O’Connor, Soft Cell, the Magnetic Fields, Rufus Wainwright, and DJs Junior Vasquez and Danny Tenaglia.
