Britney Spears Denies Reports Of Split With Justin Timberlake

Seems a girl can’t have a good cry anymore without rumors running wild. While Britney Spears may have plenty to be upset about, her recent sob session with actress friend Tara Reid wasn’t due to breaking up with boyfriend and ‘NSYNC singer Justin Timberlake, because the split didn’t happen – despite widespread reports from the BBC, the New York Post and various British tabloids. Spears emphatically denied the reports to MTV Italy on Monday (March 11), saying, “No, that’s not true. Me and Justin did not split up.” The breakup rumors appear to have spread rapidly in Europe based on… Read more »

Suge Knight Gives Hip-Hop Summit Something To Talk About

What was supposed to be a peaceful, private gathering of the West Coast hip-hop community on Thursday turned into a heated four-hour open-mic assembly dominated by two very different sermons: one from Minister Louis Farrakhan and one from Death Row Records founder Marion “Suge” Knight. Tempers flared at the West Coast Hip-Hop Summit inside the posh ballroom of the Four Seasons Hotel when Knight spent much of his time at the podium insulting everyone from Dr. Dre, Eminem and Master P to Janet Jackson, women and homosexuals. Knight’s tirades prompted a few outbursts and resulted in several people storming out… Read more »

Iron Maiden's Eddie Makes A Killer Toy

Once again, Todd McFarlane has immortalized one of the most beloved personalities of heavy metal as a detailed action figure. This time, however, it’s not a living musician he’s paying tribute to, but a character from beyond the grave. Yes, shriveled-faced, sneering Eddie – the Iron Maiden mascot – has been preserved in plastic. “With us as individuals, we’re not really interested in being made into action figures, because we’ve got Eddie,” Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson explained Tuesday. “We’ve got plenty of incarnations of Eddie to go on with for ages.” The first Eddie doll was modeled after the claw-bearing,… Read more »

Beastie Boys 'Growing' Next LP

Intergalactic rappers the Beastie Boys are making a planetary return. Mix Master Mike, the trio’s DJ since 1998’s Hello Nasty, said the group has prepared some sci-fi beats for its venture back to the studio this spring. “We’re in our space suits right now, flying around in our pods, checking all the incubators,” Mike said during a break in his DJ set Wednesday at E!’s Sizzlin’ 16 Party in Hollywood. “All the beats we’ve designed are all eggs right now, so we’re waiting for the fetuses to hatch. All I can say is we have beats that are premature right… Read more »

For any young band, the idea of performing before thousands on their first arena tour is a daunting proposal. When the heroically titled Saves the Day were tapped as openers for Weezer’s North American tour, which begins February 5, however, they pushed the butterflies aside and focused instead on rising to the occasion. “Every tour that we go on, we hope to be more comfortable as a live band,” bassist Eben D’Amico said. “Just being able to do our thing onstage that much better.
