Linkin Park Master Reanimation But Kant Spell

Linkin Park’s Reanimation is one step closer to coming to life. The album, consisting mainly of new versions of tracks from the group’smultiplatinum 2000 debut, Hybrid Theory, has gone through the mastering stage, and a final track list has been settled upon, according to the band’s manager. The 20-track LP is due July 30. Linkin Park are the prototypical rap-rock hybrid (in fact, the group’s original name was Hybrid Theory), and Reanimation doesn’t do anything to change their stance on crossbreeding genres. While Hybrid Theory employed looped beats, scratching and other DJ techniques, courtesy of Joseph Hahn, Reanimation puts a… Read more »

System, Papa Roach Rage On Weenie Roast Stage While Jack Osbourne Holds Court

Not even his father could have said it better. “This is diet Ozzfest,” Jack Osbourne quipped backstage at the sold-out KROQ Weenie Roast. Southern California’s authoritative modern rock radio station hosted its 10th annual summer concert extravaganza on Saturday and, yes, it did offer a glimpse of the summer’s most anticipated tours, especially Ozzfest. Ozzy himself could not make the festivities, as his daughter Kelly was performing across the valley at KIIS’ Wango Tango radio show alongside the likes of Celine Dion and past Weenie Roast favorites No Doubt. Why wasn’t Jack there? “We don’t get along,” he clarified. Representing… Read more »

The trek begins at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on July 9 and has 19 engagements scheduled, winding down with a pair of shows in West Hollywood, California, on August 9 and 10, according to the band’s publicist. Kid Rock, Run-D.M.C. Back In The Saddle With Aerosmith

When Aerosmith tell you which way to walk this summer, they’ll be pointing at Kid Rock and Run-D.M.C., who’ll join the veteran rockers on select tour dates across the country. The collaboration is a reunion of sorts for the three acts, who played a medley of “Walk This Way,” “Rock Box” and “King of Rock” at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards. The first date of the tour is August 13 in Holmdel, New Jersey, at the PNC Bank Arts Center, and additional shows have been announced for August 22 and 24 in Mansfield, Massachusetts, at the Tweeter Center and… Read more »

Red Hot Chili Peppers Lack Spark At Secret London Gig – Review

England is gripped by a heady patriotic fervor these days – between the England team’s highly anticipated appearances in the 2002 World Cup and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, you can barely move without seeing a flag or banner. Yet the Brits still seem to have a little fervor left over for their American cousins, especially when those Americans happen to be the Red Hot Chili Peppers. When the Chilis took the stage for a “secret” club gig at the Garage in London on Friday (May 31), the primarily invite-only crowd erupted with an enthusiasm normally reserved for a winning goal… Read more »

Aerosmith Collect the Hits

Aerosmith’s latest greatest hits collection is due June 25th. As yet, the album is still untitled, but the collection will span thirty years, featuring hits from the band’s self-titled debut, as well as recent hits like “Jaded.” “We’ve got our Columbia era, we’ve got our Geffen era and we’ve got our neo-Columbia era, and we want to cover all that,” bassist Tom Hamilton told Rolling Stone in March. “Really from [1975’s] Toys in the Attic until now.” The upcoming compilation will have three new tracks on it, including “Girls of Summer,” which Aerosmith played a few bars during their MTV… Read more »

Weezer Hitting Sheds With Dashboard Confessional, Strokes

When drummer Pat Wilson described Weezer’s latest live show tendencies recently, he separately mentioned Neil Diamond, Spinal Tap, Tool and Phish in a matter of minutes. Needless to say, the band’s summer tour should be interesting. Dates have not been announced, but Wilson and frontman Rivers Cuomo said Weezer will spend six weeks hitting amphitheaters across America with Dashboard Confessional beginning in mid-July. The Stokes will also join the bill on a couple of dates. “It’s gonna be awesome,” Wilson said. “The sound just goes. In an arena, it sounds stupid, but when we hear stuff and it goes out… Read more »
