Backstreet Boys Sue Zomba Seeking $100 Million


The Backstreet Boys say they are the victim of boardroom politics and are fighting back with a $100 million lawsuit against their record label. They have sued Zomba Music Group, saying the record label effectively barred the group from recording a new album because of a preoccupation with a now-completed merger with German media giant Bertelsmann AG. It’s a go for J. Lo and Ben Affleck. The singer-actress confirms rumors that she’s engaged to the actor in an interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer set to air Wednesday. One Judge Quits 'American Idol'


Rapper/disc jockey Angie Martinez discovered she wasn’t tough enough to be an “American Idol” judge. Martinez, who was to join original judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul (news) and Randy Jackson for the Fox talent-search show’s second season, quit after the first few auditions. It became “too uncomfortable for me to tell someone else to give up on their dream, especially when I realized that many of them have supported my musical career,” Martinez said in a statement. Creed Announce New Dates for Postponed Tour


Creed lead singer Scott Stapp (news) has offered his “sincere regret” to fans for the band’s recent tour-date postponements, and also announced a series of make-up dates in the cities affected. Prince Sues Website For Copyright Infringement


Prince has sued FreeMyHeart.com following that site’s decision to post songs from the singer’s Xenophobia live concert performances this summer. Paisley Park Enterprises is suing the Me’Shell Ndegeocello fansite $150,000 for each song posted online, notes the Miami Herald. FreeMyHeart.com site operator Matthew Lankford told the paper, “For him (Prince) to seek $150,000 per song to try to ruin me for doing nothing more than promoting him is overdoing it.” Prince’s suit, filed in federal court on Wednesday (September 25), claims Lankford posted the exact time and place of the songs’ recordings, which constitutes a clear violation of copyright-infringement laws.… Read more »
