Just two weeks after Kanye West and Lady Gaga announced their full slate of “Fame Kills” dates, the tour has been canceled. No official reason has been given for the cancellation, but ticket refunds will be available. After the backlash surrounding Kanye’s outburst during Taylor Swift’s VMAs acceptance speech, the tour was rumored to be embattled. Now official confirmation of the cancellation comes from concert promoters Live Nation. But Gaga isn’t letting this slow down her collaborations with rappers. Just yesterday, she hinted at the possibility of recording with Dr. Dre.

Leave it to Kanye West to make headlines in the most unusual way — and he did, as he hijacked Taylor Swift’s speech at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards. Swift was in mid-acceptance speech for Best Female Video when West rushed onstage, grabbed her microphone and went on an outburst on behalf of Beyonce Knowles, who had lost out in that category. At the end though, a classy move by Beyonce, the night’s top winner, who brought Swift onstage and gave her an uninterrupted moment in the spotlight. “I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV… Read more »
TLC members Rozonda ‘’Chilli’’ Thomas and Tionne ‘’T-Boz’’ Watkins will perform their first concert together in over six years when the pair take the stage at the annual Justin Timberlake and Friends concert at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay on Oct. 17, People reports. The publishing rights to most of the Beatles’ biggest hits are owned by one entity, a joint venture between the late Michael Jackson and the music arm of Sony Corp called Sony/ATV. Sony/ATV also owns the rights to songs written by Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Taylor Swift and, oh yes, the Jonas Brothers. But Sony/ATV does not handle the recordings of Beatles songs. Two other companies do that, so whether you’ll ever download “Come Together” off of iTunes has nothing to do with M.J.’s death. Jackson was, according to reports, mired in some truly epic financial drama. Even the value… Read more »
The memo on waning Jonas Brothers mania apparently has yet to reach Lima, Peru. Riot police were called to the city’s oceanfront Marriott Hotel Sunday when more than 1,000 fans took to the streets to form a tearful, shrieking and otherwise order-be-damned welcome wagon for the Jonas Brothers. “There are thousands of fans outside the hotel,” Kevin, Nick and Joe wrote on their website. “The police were called in to control the crowd… can’t wait to meet everyone!” The feeling was apparently mutual. “We just woke up to the sounds of fans screaming downstairs outside of our hotel,” the siblings… Read more »

Over the last few decades, a veteran music act’s best shot at platinum magic usually consisted of pairing up with younger hitmakers (a la Santana) or covering treasured classics (like Rod Stewart. These days, another kind of vehicle has become a path to best-selling success – teaming up with box store chains. Garth Brooks ‘ started the trend in earnest back in 2005, with an exclusive Wal-Mart deal, and the Eagles and AC/DC had multiplatinum-plus success over the last two years by exclusively selling new CDs at Wal-Mart. Guns ‘N Roses sold about a million copies with a special Best… Read more »
