Sting to return this fall with new album


Sting has confirmed plans to return this fall with a new solo album titled If On a Winter’s Night… The October 27th album, inspired by what Sting calls his favorite season, will feature two original compositions along with carols, lullabies and traditional songs from the British Isles. “The theme of winter is rich in inspiration and material,” Sting said. “By filtering all of these disparate styles into one album I hope we have created something refreshing and new.” The two Sting songs on the disc are called “Lullaby for an Anxious Child” and “The Hounds of Winter,” and both have… Read more »

Linkin Park cooking up genre-busting album


Linkin Park co-frontman Mike Shinoda said the band’s fourth studio album is going to be so unique, “they’re going to have to come up with a new genre name for what this record is.” Shinoda wants to shake things up in the rock world with the follow-up to 2007’s Minutes To Midnight. Linkin Park is about halfway through the writing process and hopes to have the album ready for an early 2010 release. Beastie Boys Reveal New Album Tracklisting


The Beastie Boys have revealed the tracklisting for their new album The Mix Up. As previously reported exclusively by NME.com, band member Mike D said that the follow up to 2004’s To The 5 Boroughs would be “radically different” to its predecessor and the sound will hark back to the style of 1992’s Check Your Head and 1989’s Paul’s Boutique. Fiction Plane Revs Up for EP, Sting Dates


New York – Rock quartet Fiction Plane is wrapping work on an EP that will constitute its first new music since the 2003 release of its MCA debut, “Everything Will Never Be OK.” Dubbed “Bitter Forces and Lame Race Horses,” the upcoming set is led by the track “American Standard,” which was mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent (U2, Oasis, Bjork). The EP, which will also feature the cuts “Tolerate,” “Patience” and “The Author Lies,” will be released in the United Kingdom by Everybody’s Records, an imprint of Island. Jack Osbourne The Victim Of A Bling Sting


Thieves can’t seem to get enough of the Osbourne family’s jewels. Just a few months after pop Ozzy struggled with robbers who stole $2 million worth of jewelry from the Osbournes’ English estate, Jack Osbourne was the victim of a bling sting. According to a Reuters report, more than $380,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from one of Jack’s suitcases on a flight from Los Angeles to London. Among the items taken were two watches that were gifts, which Jack is said to be very upset over losing.

Pop icon Sting has been deeply moved by the suffering of Sri Lankan children who lost parents to Asia’s tsunami and may pen a song about the island’s worst natural disaster, his wife said Wednesday.
