R. Kelly, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin Featured On 'Ali' Soundtrack


R. Kelly’s “The World’s Greatest” entered Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart last week at Number 75. The song is the first single from Ali, The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, out today (November 27), which also features songs from Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Angie Stone, and Everlast. R. Kelly, who auditioned for the role of Muhammad Ali, wrote “The World’s Greatest” before seeing the film, and penned “Hold On” for the soundtrack after previewing the movie, which stars Will Smith. Online Music Services to Launch Amid Holiday Season


The world’s big record labels are finally rolling out online subscription services smack in the middle of the holiday season that caps the music industry’s worst year in at least a decade. Sirius Names Consumer Electronics Veteran Joseph Clayton as CEO


Sirius Satellite Radio, the satellite radio broadcaster, today announced it hired consumer electronics and telecommunications veteran Joseph P. Clayton, 52, as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Clayton joins Sirius from Global Crossing, the global internet and long distance services provider, where he was vice chairman. Mr. Clayton previously served as chief executive officer of Frontier Corporation, a Rochester-based national provider of local telephone, long distance, data, conferencing and wireless communications services, until its acquisition by Global Crossing in October 1999. LFO To Open For Britney Spears


LFO has announced that it will open for Britney Spears on select December dates of her Britney 2001 U.S. tour, including December 11 at the FleetCenter in Boston; December 14 at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina; December 15 at Philips Arena in Atlanta; and December 16 at the New Orleans Arena. "Now 8" Dedicated to Aaliyah


The upcoming Now That’s What I Call Music! 8 compilation is being dedicated to the late R&B singer Aaliyah, who died on August 25th in a plane crash in the Bahamas.
