The Menzingers have been exponentially improving as a band since the beginning, and their new album Rented World only marks another spike in that trend.

Rock star Bono says he’s tired of just dreaming about helping the world’s poor and sick. “I’m into doing at the moment,” the U2 singer tells Time magazine in its Feb. 24 issue, on newsstands Monday. “I know how absurd it is to have a rock star talk about the World Health Organization or debt relief or HIV/AIDS in Africa,” he acknowledges. But the 41-year-old celebrity has access to media and money, and power-brokers listen to him. As chief benefactor of a debt-relief advocacy group, Bono recently sat on a World Economic Forum dais with Bill Gates, discussing how to… Read more »
For his new video, Ryan Adams found himself in a field of red poppies with the Emerald City looming in the background. And though there was no Toto and there were no flying monkeys, Elton John was there to drive home the point that Adams certainly wasn’t in Kansas anymore. Actually, it was Long Island City, New York, to be specific, on the set of Adams’ video for “Answering Bell,” the second single from his second solo album, Gold. The clip, shot Friday by director Luke Scott (Train, Deana Carter), is loosely based on L. Frank Baum’s classic novel about… Read more »
“Analyse,” the premier video from the Cranberries’ new MCA album, “Wake Up And Smell The Coffee,” has been temporarily pulled from video channels around the world as well as from the band’s web-site in the wake of last week’s tragic events in the United States. The video, which was directed by Australian Keir McFarland, was filmed in London’s Canary Wharf district this past August. The video features scenes of the band’s singer, Dolores O’Riordan, performing the song on the top of a building. In the distance behind her are two skyscrapers with a plane flying over the scene. Additional scenes… Read more »
Timbaland is like an athlete who took his franchise team from lottery-pick status to a dynasty. After helping everyone from Nas to Nelly Furtado stay on people’s lips when they make requests to a DJ, Timbaland is bored. He needs new challenges and wants to start from scratch. “I’m tired of making hit songs,” lamented Tim, who said he’s the coach “Phil Jackson” of the studio. “I done made 20 #1 hit records. That’s old to me. Let somebody else go and do it. I gotta make records that mean something.” With the exception of a few of his friends… Read more »

Following their monumental comeback this year with the release of their new album, From Zero, Linkin Park secured five nominations at the Billboard Music Awards. The ceremony, held last night, December 12, featured major wins for Taylor Swift—a predictable moment of the evening. Linkin Park emerged victorious in two key categories: Best Rock Group and Top Hard Rock Artist. However, they fell short in the Top Rock Artist category, losing to Zach Bryan… a country artist who also claimed the Top Country Touring Artist award. The band also delivered a larger-than-life performance of “The Emptiness Machine,” with the crowd passionately… Read more »
