Stabbing Westward Cut Out

After 12 years of Stabbing Westward, members of the Chicago industrial rock quartet are moving in different directions, the group announced on Saturday. The decision to disband was made a week prior to the announcement, but the band wanted the termination to marinate for a bit before going public, according to the group’s manager. Singer Christopher Hall, drummer Andrew Kubiszewski, bassist Jim Sellers and programmer/multi-instrumentalist Walter Flakus posted a farewell note on Stabbing Westward’s Web site: “Thank you very much for all the support and love. We are very sad and, as well, very excited about all our futures.” The… Read more »

Over the past week there were explosive developments concerning the fate of American Taliban member John Walker Lindh, imploding energy company Enron and president Bush’s problems with pretzels, but very little has been changing on the album chart. That means Creed’s Weathered will hang on to the #1 slot of next week’s Billboard 200, giving the band a solid two-month run as top dogs. Linkin Park will hold tight at #2 with Hybrid Theory as they embark on their last tour before working on new material, Ludacris will remain steady at #3 with Word of Mouf and Nickelback’s Silver Side… Read more »

Automator Talks Gorillaz Tour

Cartoon hip-hop/popsters Gorillaz are going on tour, confirming nine North American stops, beginning February 23rd in Toronto, in support of their platinum self-titled debut. Which begs the obvious question, how? “It will definitely involve big movie screens and lights,” says the band’s producer Dan “The Automator” Nakamura. “The musicians will be behind the screens and backlit onto them. Two-dimensional figures have problems when projected because they get distorted – so it’s a matter of making it look good.” Gorillaz – which also features the artwork of Tank Girl creator Jamie Hewlett and the vocals of Blur’s Damon Albern, Cibo Matto’s… Read more »
