“Headstrong,” Trapt’s first single from its self-titled debut, continues to move up the Alternative and Active Rock Radio & Records chart. The song moves up one spot to Number Four on the Alternative chart, and the song reached Number Two last week on the Active Rock chart. Rock-rap act 311 has slated a July 11 for its seventh studio album, “Evolver.” The group reteamed with producer Ron Saint Germain (Bad Brains, Sonic Youth) for the Volcano Records set. He last worked with the band on its self-titled third album, released in 1995 via Capricorn Records. Shortly before the album’s release, the group will kick off a U.S. tour July 15 on the West Coast. Dates for that trek, which will extend into September, will be announced soon. When Good Charlotte last played here in October 2002, their “Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous” was about how the other half lives and they barely filled the 1,500-capacity Rave in Milwaukee. Linkin Park’s “Meteora” maintains its No. 1 standing on the Billboard 200 for a second-straight week, despite a hefty 67% drop in U.S. sales. The band’s sophomore Warner Bros. album sold 265,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, bringing its two-week sales total above the 1 million mark. The No. 1 entry of “Meteora” on The Billboard 200 followed a similar opening on the U.K. album chart. Britney Spears and her family were on-hand for the Rally Against Cancer at Summit Hospital in her home state of Louisiana on Sunday (March 2). The hospital and the singer’s Britney Spears Foundation co-hosted the cancer screening and awareness fair in Baton Rouge. “This is something my heart has to do,” Spears told the hundreds of people gathered for the event, which was designed to promote the need for preventative measures such as early cancer-detection screenings. Hip-hop phenomenon Eminem trounced all comers in 2002 and tentatively claimed top album of the year honors after selling more than 7.4 million copies of “The Eminem Show” (Interscope/Shady) in the U.S., according to figures released Thursday by Nielsen SoundScan.
