McCartney spokesman denies UPN Harrison story

Just when you thought the mystery of where ex-Beatle George Harrison died might have been solved, it may actually have deepened. A spokesman for ex-Beatle Paul McCartney Thursday strongly denied a local television report that said Harrison, who died of cancer in Los Angeles on Nov. 29, passed away at a house owned by McCartney. He also said McCartney did not even own a house in California. The Los Angeles affiliate of the UPN network, UPN News 13, reported Tuesday that Harrison died at a secluded home in Beverly Hills that McCartney bought from rock star Courtney Love six months… Read more »

McCartney Says Fiance Is No Beatles Fan

Paul McCartney’s wife-to-be Heather Mills knows next to nothing about the Beatles and does not recognize their songs, the ex-Beatle told a German magazine on Wednesday. “She doesn’t know a single song. Heather grew up with classical music and had friends who listened to hard rock such as AC/DC. She had no Beatles records at home,” McCartney said in an interview in Stern. “Once I was sitting at my piano and was humming a new song. Heather said ‘Oh, a nice song. Which Beatles piece is that?’ None at all, I said, I’ve just written it. I named the song… Read more »

Jagger, McCartney Struggle in U.S. Pop Charts

Rock ‘n’ roll will never die. Unless it is being made by classic rockers like Rolling Stone frontman Mick Jagger and former Beatle Paul McCartney, whose new albums are barely registering a pulse at cash registers in the United States. The very youth culture that propelled these music legends to stardom back in the 1960s is now discarding them in favor of a new generation of fresh-faced youngsters, such as perky teen queen Britney Spears and spiritual rockers Creed. According to sales data issued on Wednesday, Jagger’s new album “Goddess in the Doorway” (Virgin) debuted at No. 39 on the… Read more »

Ex-Beatle McCartney Plays Air Guitar In Venice

Ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney made a surprise visit to the Venice Film Festival on Tuesday to see a short film featuring his voice and music. Accompanied by his fiancee, Heather Mills, 33, McCartney arrived in the rainy lagoon city like any well-prepared Englishman, with an umbrella in hand, and posed for photographers by playing air guitar on the rolled-up umbrella. McCartney, 59, had been due to attend the premiere of “Tuesday,” a 13-minute animated movie he helped produce, on Monday, but canceled at the last minute. Perhaps more appropriately, he turned up to see “Tuesday” on Tuesday. The film, which… Read more »
