Duet – a joint venture between music giants Vivendi Universal and Sony Corp – has quietly been lining up new leadership and negotiating with potential partners, including Microsoft Corp., sources close to the venture said Friday. Napster Logs On With Label-Backed MusicNet


File-sharing service Napster has inked an exclusive pact to license the digital music technology of MusicNet, a nascent online distribution company backed by three of the five major record labels. Napster’s CEO remains defiant despite increasing legal pressures from the recording industry and an apparent exodus of users from the system. Pamela Anderson has settled a lawsuit over another sex tape she made with an ’80s rocker, her lawyer said Wednesday.
