New Found Glory, Something Corporate, Finch Energize DC – Review

The lyrics to the song “This Is My Life Story” by MXPX run through my head as I hopelessly scramble to the very back of the line. I left later than I had hoped, got caught up in D.C. traffic, and arrived about 5 minutes before doors were scheduled to open. Once inside, I rush to get as close to the stage as I possible. While mashed between about five teeny boppers and their “boyfriends,” anticipation runs through my bones as I eagerly await the first performance. First up is Further Seems Forever. I was a little skeptical about this… Read more »

New DVD for New Found Glory

Florida punk rockers New Found Glory are gearing up to release their first DVD, The Story So Far, next month. Due October 15th on MCA, the DVD features live footage showing the quintet’s rise from playing backyard shindigs to European tours. Also included are interviews and a number of videos including “Hit or Miss,” “Friends Over You,” and new single “Head Over You,” which features a cameo from Vandals bassist Joe Escalante. “There’s this company called Troma and they do like B-horror movies, but cheesy, almost like silly, so we got them to do the special effects on our video,”… Read more »

New Found Glory Get 'Toxic Avenger' Team For Clip, Drummer's Arm Falls Off

Just because New Found Glory are getting love from the “TRL” crowd doesn’t mean they’re changing their ways or cleaning up their act. Sure, the band’s next video is for the song “Head on Collision,” one of the slower, more melodic tracks from their latest album, Sticks & Stones. But the clip, directed by the Malloys, will reveal a previously unseen twisted side of the group thanks to the help of schlock horror production company Troma Films, which provided the makeup and special effects for the video. “Me and our singer Jordan are really big fans of ‘The Toxic Avenger’… Read more »

New Found Glory Happy To Throw 'Sticks And Stones' At Warped Crowd

New Found Glory is currently on the Vans Warped Tour and the timing of the tour is perfect for the band, since its Sticks And Stones was released in June. Guitarist Chad Gilbert revealed the band is glad to have some fresh material, including the first single and video, “My Friends Over You,” to play on the tour. “You know, we have the new record out, we have a video out, and we have all this stuff going on, and it’s cool to be able to bring all that to the Warped Tour as opposed to any other tour. It’s… Read more »

New Found Glory Dissect Their 'Friends'

They might have called their new album Sticks and Stones so that if critics trashed it they could retort by sneering, sticking out their tongues and saying, “names will never hurt me.” But that’s not the reason. For New Found Glory, names are as dangerous as flung fists, and throughout the record they reveal how damaged they’ve been by barbed words. “On the cover of the record we have a little girl beating up a guy,” guitarist Steve Klein explained recently. “When we were younger, relationships with girls were a lot easier. You could hit each other and it would… Read more »

New Found Glory's 'Hit Or Miss' Hits Home With Fans

Signs of success are everywhere for up-and-coming pop-punkers New Found Glory – from the single “Hit or Miss” gaining radio spins and the increasing number of concertgoers who sing along to it, to the growing size of the venues where the group perform and the increasingly comfortable mode of transportation that takes them there. One clue, however, is reserved for only the worthiest targets of admiration. “We had our first crier at a Sam Goody in-store,” guitarist Chad Gilbert admitted. Apparently some young lady was so taken with being in the presence of Gilbert, singer Jordan Pundik, guitarist Steve Klein,… Read more »
