Madonna Adds Drowned World Tour Dates


Madonna’s Drowned World Tour keeps getting bigger, with the singer adding an extra date in each of the 12 U.S. cities she’s hitting, beginning with a July 22 date in Philadelphia. May 12 is the first on-sale date, for shows in Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Oakland and Auburn Hills, Michigan. The Miami shows go on sale May 19, with the remainder of the tour on sale May 21. Slipknot, System To Tour


Just a day after canceling a promotional tour and pushing back the release date of their second album, Slipknot have committed to a fall tour with System of a Down. The first annual Pledge of Allegiance Tour will launch on October 1st at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, and will run six weeks. With the Hollywood-Washington war expected to be reignited today, Motion Picture Assn. of America prexy-CEO Jack Valenti on Monday warned lawmakers in no uncertain terms to back off. “May God save the First Amendment,” Valenti said during a keynote speech before the National Assn. of Broadcasters, which is meeting here for its annual confab. Sony, Accenture Create Joint Venture


Sony Corp. and Accenture Ltd. have entered into a joint venture intended to aid media companies in their attempts to bring programming to the digital world. According to Bloomberg News, Accenture, formerly Anderson Consulting, will work with Sony to create software, services, and equipment for broadcasters to manage, archive, and distribute digital content ranging from photos to digital music. Marion ''Suge'' Knight To Be Released From Jail


Co-founder of Death Row Records Marion “Suge” Knight will be released from state prison next week after serving more than four years. Knight, who turns 35 tomorrow, has been serving time on a nine-year sentence since October 1996 for a probation violation. He is currently at Mule Creek State Prison near Sacramento, Calif. and will be transferred on April 25 to an undisclosed federal facility to serve an additional 60 days.
