Interview: Kyle Lane of New Empire


Australian alt-rock band New Empire are slowly yet steadily breaking out internationally. Their résumé already includes a stint on Warped Tour and opening for bands such as Simple Plan and Neon Trees. idobi senior writer Catherine Yi caught up with guitarist Kyle Lane to discuss the new record, signing with a label, and finding success overseas.

Linkin Park snags Cornell, Bravery for tour


Linkin Park, Chris Cornell and the Bravery will perform on the main stage of the fifth annual Projekt Revolution tour, set to begin July 16 at the Tweeter Center outside Boston. The Linkin Park-reared trek is scheduled to visit 24 U.S. cities, running through August 24 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston. Ashes Divide (featuring A Perfect Circle’s Billy Howerdel) will also perform on the main stage. Atreyu, 10 Years, Hawthorne Heights, Armor For Sleep and the Street Drum Corps will appear on the smaller Revolution Stage. Tickets for select dates go on sale to the general public… Read more »

Casey Calvert Death Ruled Accidental Overdose


The death of a rock musician last month outside a popular downtown music club has been ruled an accidental drug overdose. Casey Calvert, the guitarist of the band “Hawthorne Heights,” was found dead in the band’s tour bus outside the 9:30 Club just before the band’s show on Nov. 24. The District’s chief medical examiner determined the cause of death to be “acute combined effects of opiate, citalopram and clonazepam intoxication.” Citalopram (also known by the brand name Celexa) and clonazepam (also known by the brand names Klonopin and Rivotril) are prescription drugs.
