Did Christmas come early or is the new episode of Man Of The Hour just that good? Usually we gather ’round our speakers once a week to hear from Pat and Seb, but this time they’re bringing along a special guest to make our holiday season extra merry.
Guitarist, producer, and music director extraordinaire Zubin Thakkar joins the show this week after the guys tracked him down on Myspace (or something like that). Listen in as he and the hosts catch up on everything that’s happened since they saw each other last, from Hello Operator tours to Saturday Night Live performances—and of course, his recent work with Patrick’s favorite, Shawn Mendes.
We took a virtual tour of Madison Olds apartment in the latest edition of Tour De Sessions.
If you bite the hand, get louder and defiant A couple of years ago when reviewing grandson’s first EP, a modern tragedy vol. 1, I referred to the multi-talented musician as being an artist to help you survive today’s uneasy world. With the release of his debut album, Death of an Optimist, I’m even more convinced that if anyone is going to soundtrack a revolution, it will be grandson. I have new band Repenter on my show. I’ve been friends with their guitar player for about 15 years now, he’s been in bands, was even a record executive at Warner Brothers for a while and now recorded new music with Ross Robinson (Slipknot, Glassjaw, Korn, From First To Last etc) their band sounds nothing like those bands, and they have a refreshing sound, take a listen!!
The Rockstar Dad Show is inviting a rockstar family to the air this week! Listen in as Rick, Miles, and Daxx Nielsen join Jaret and Gary for a conversation.
As the lead guitarist of Cheap Trick, Rick Nielsen has lived an interesting life and his sons have followed in his footsteps with their own careers in music. Daxx is a drummer who’s played with many bands over the years, including with Cheap Trick. Miles is the frontman of a band called Mike Nielsen and The Rusted Hearts (more on that in a bit).
When the group calls in they look back at their history both personal and professional, from stories about Guns n’ Roses to family dynamics while touring. They also chat about The Nielsen Trust, quarantining with kids, being versatile with your music and more. Tune in and make sure you stick around until the end to hear “Hands Up” by Miles’s band!
