Live Avril Exclusive Tracks On iTunes Include Green Day Cover


Avril Lavigne is sending a subtle message to Metallica, Linkin Park and other groups who have pulled their music off Apple’s iTunes recently – Let Go. While several artists have distanced themselves from the online music store because it makes tracks available individually, the Canadian singer is supporting the new service by giving iTunes an exclusive live EP. Rancid, Blink-182, Green Day Members Step To The Mic For Charles Manson Movie


Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong is turning to Charles Manson for salvation, and he’s bringing Kelly Osbourne and members of Blink-182, Green Day and AFI along for the ride. When he finishes this year’s Vans Warped Tour, Armstrong will put the finishing touches on the upcoming stop-motion animated film “Live Freaky! Die Freaky!” in which Manson surfaces in a post-apocalyptic wasteland to guide a group of survivors who are desperately searching for a spiritual leader. Green Day's Billie Joe Set For February 19 DUI Hearing


Green Day vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong is set for a pre-trial hearing February 19 in Alameda County Superior Court for two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol. Armstrong will not be there as his legal counsel, Laurel L. Headley, is on the case. Armstrong did not attend his arraignment on February 4, but was represented by his counsel. He pled not guilty to both counts. Armstrong was arrested January 5, 2003 near his home in Berkeley, California, for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong Arrested For Drunk Driving


Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong was arrested early Sunday in Berkeley, California, for driving under the influence. The punk-rocker was pulled over just before 1 a.m. after authorities spotted his black BMW convertible speeding, according to Berkeley Police spokesperson Mary Kusmiss. After Armstrong failed sobriety and Breathalyzer tests, he was taken to jail and booked for misdemeanor drunk driving. He was released later that morning on $1,200 bail and will be arraigned later this month. Kusmiss said the 30-year-old singer was “very cooperative” and did not inform authorities of his celebrity. Green Day's Armstrong Honors Strummer; Thanks Fans For Anti-War Petition


Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong has honored late-Clash frontman Joe Strummer by including a recording of a Strummer song during his latest audio message to fans on Green Day’s official website (greenday.com.) “This is for Joe,” Armstrong said before letting spin the original version of the Clash’s “Bankrobber.” The reggae/dub song first appeared in the United States on the Clash’s 1980 EP compilation, Black Market Clash. The 50-year-old Strummer succumbed to a heart attack in his U.K. home on December 22. Following last year’s greatest hits album, International Superhits, Green Day will further anthologize their history with Shenanigans, a compilation of B-sides and rarities, due in July. Two of the bands most responsible for the commercial popularity of melodic punk rock in the 1990s have come together for the coast-to-coast Pop Disaster tour, which touched down Wednesday at the nearly sold-out Forum after two big outdoor shows the previous weekend in Irvine.
