Court Dismisses Copyright Lawsuit Against Marc Anthony

The court has dismissed a lawsuit filed last year against singer Marc Anthony, which alleged that his award-winning hit song “I Need to Know” was not written by Anthony and composer/producer Cory Rooney. The lawsuit had alleged that “I Need to Know” infringed the copyright of an unpublished song by Agren of the same title. “This lawsuit was frivolous from the outset and Marc should be… Read more »

Madonna Too Nasty For Singapore

Madonna’s Drowned World Tour 2001 concert DVD has been deemed “too explicit” for Singapore and banned from release there, Billboard reports. The Singapore Board Of Film Censors took issue with two scenes in particular-Japanese-inspired animation sequences that depicted a monster fondling and raping an Asian-looking girl. Madonna’s management is reportedly debating whether to release an edited version of the DVD in that country. The Drowned DVD captures the Material Girl in concert in Detroit last August. Meanwhile, other visual images of Madonna are currently receiving accolades back home in the States. The Jean-Baptiste Mondino-directed video for the song “Don’t Tell… Read more »

FCC cancels fine for radio play of "Slim Shady''

Federal communications regulators said Tuesday they changed their minds about an edited version of “The Real Slim Shady,” a song by rapper Eminem, deciding it was not that offensive after all. In June, the Federal Communications Commission proposed slapping KKMG-FM in Pueblo, Colorado with a $7,000 fine for airing the song by Eminem, despite editing done by the station, which is owned by Citadel Broadcasting Co. The FCC initially said the radio station did not delete parts that referred to sexual activity. But Citadel countered the references in the edited version were not explicit or graphic enough to be offensive… Read more »
