Madonna announced on Monday (April 16) the 18 dates of an international outing that will launch June 5 in Cologne, Germany, and end September 9 in Los Angeles. Joey Ramone, lead singer of legendary punk band the Ramones, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Sunday at the age of 49. The towering front man, born Jeffrey Hyman, did not respond to treatment for lymphatic cancer, a disease that attacks the body’s ability to fight infection. Twelve-time Brit Award winner and international chart topper Robbie Williams disclosed plans to release a version of “We Are the Champions,” recorded with the remaining members of Queen. Warner Bros. Nashville president Jim Ed Norman has confirmed that Giant Records will close its offices today (April 13) after eight years of operation as a country label. Warner Bros., which initially co-owned Giant with talent manager Irving Azoff, has signed an agreement to purchase the label’s remaining shares. All Giant artists will be transferred to the Warner Bros. Nashville roster initially, and an evaluation of the talent pool will take place in the coming weeks, but no artists were let go today.
