Horror movie fans have always figured Freddy and Jason were destined to meet. But could they have guessed that Destiny’s Child would be part of the picture? Kelly Rowland said she starts shooting scenes for “Freddy vs. Jason” this fall, as one of the female leads. “I remember being on the set with Beyoncé on ‘Austin Powers’ and when she did ‘Carmen,’ ” Rowland said Tuesday on another set – that of Nelly’s video for “Dilemma.” “She was like, ‘You go act. I know you can do it.’ She always thought I had personality. I did a couple of TV… Read more »

Now she just has to wait until 2006 when she’ll actually be old enough to drive it. “I’ll just sit in the garage and listen to music [in the car] and wash it,” the 12-year-old Fort Lauderdale, Florida, resident said of the car that she and her family bought in an online auction for $27,900. Earlier this summer, Eminem traded in his ride to Russ Milne Ford in Macomb, Michigan. The dealership decided to put the car… Read more »

Fred Durst Tells Aussie Court He Warned Fest Promoter

Fred Durst reiterated claims of inadequate security on Monday during a hearing looking into the death of a 15-year-old concertgoer last year. From Los Angeles, the Limp Bizkit frontman spoke via videolink to the Glebe Coroner’s Court in Sydney, Australia, according to his manager, Peter Katsis. He claimed to have warned organizers of the touring Big Day Out festival of potential security problems at the Sydney stop, which took place January 26, 2001, and threatened to withdraw from the show if they weren’t remedied, following a similar crowd-crushing incident that occurred days prior in Auckland, New Zealand. “We definitely said… Read more »

Child welfare investigators have reopened an investigation of the parents whose daughter is at the center of last week’s sex-tape indictments against R. Kelly. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services said Monday (June 10) that it has renewed its probe into whether the teenage girl’s parents allowed her to have sex with the singer, thereby subjecting her to risk or harm. “Our involvement is only tangentially to Robert Kelly,” said DCFS Deputy Director John Goad. “Our interest is more seeing after the safety of the children, whether they suffered abuse or neglect at the hands of those responsible… Read more »

When Pink phoned Lenny Kravitz last month, the party starter made sure the reason for her call was not at all missundaztood. “I was like, ‘You should come down for rehearsals.’ And he was like, ‘What are you rehearsing for?’ And I was like, ‘Your tour,’ ” Pink explained. “I’m like, ‘You would be very smart to take me on tour.’ And then like two or three weeks later he called and we hooked it up. I take what I want.” She certainly does, especially when it comes to men. For her next video, “Just Like a Pill,” Pink requested… Read more »

Inside The White Stripes' 'Girl' Video Block Party

Remember how psyched you were as a kid to build a little car or a castle out of Lego pieces? Bet you never fashioned a fully functioning punk-rock duo and a kaleidoscopic world where they could swim, ride bikes and whale on the drums, though, did you? Don’t feel bad. You probably never got that sophisticated, but pioneering director Michel Gondry did, thanks to the White Stripes. In the eye-popping video for “Fell in Love With a Girl,” a two-minute blast of O.P.P.-like fantasy, the candy-colored pair from Detroit strum, jump and sprint their way through a building-block realm that… Read more »

Since the alleged R. Kelly sex tapes first hit the media two months ago, the primary question has been if the girl featured on the 27-minute tape, currently under investigation by the Chicago police, was actually underage, since her identity had been kept hidden. While her immediate family – as well as the girl herself – have yet to step forward, a former protégé of R. Kelly has told a Los Angeles radio station that the girl on the tape is her niece, whom she says was 14 at the time the tape was made. Sparkle, who had a hit… Read more »

But before they took to the stage, their So-Cal neighbors, Hoobastank, warmed up the Key with a thunderous half-hour set. The foursome had no problem filling up the arena with their… Read more »

The Ramones Ushered Into Rock Hall

They represented the anti-establishment, so it was a bit odd to see the Ramones so happy to become part of the music establishment as members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But for the remaining members of the punk rock originators – whose lead singer, Joey Ramone, died last year – Monday night’s induction at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel represented long-overdue respect for the band that helped revolutionize rock with their rapid-fire, guitar-heavy songs. “I’d like to congratulate myself, and thank myself, and give myself a big pat on the back,” joked Dee Dee Ramone. “Thank you Dee Dee,… Read more »
