New Found Glory Get 'Toxic Avenger' Team For Clip, Drummer's Arm Falls Off

Just because New Found Glory are getting love from the “TRL” crowd doesn’t mean they’re changing their ways or cleaning up their act. Sure, the band’s next video is for the song “Head on Collision,” one of the slower, more melodic tracks from their latest album, Sticks & Stones. But the clip, directed by the Malloys, will reveal a previously unseen twisted side of the group thanks to the help of schlock horror production company Troma Films, which provided the makeup and special effects for the video. “Me and our singer Jordan are really big fans of ‘The Toxic Avenger’… Read more »

Online Radio Pioneer Falls Victim To New Royalty Rates

The first commercial radio station to cybercast its over-the-air playlist is among the first to fall victim to newly imposed royalty rates for online broadcasts. KPIG stopped streaming music online Thursday, ending a near seven-year run on the Internet. According to its own estimates, the small-scale station would have been forced to pay $24,000 in back royalties (or approximately $3,000 per month) from this year alone on an arm of the station that generates little or no revenue on its own. It was purely for the benefit of those who were interested in hearing it. Based in Freedom, California, KPIG’s… Read more »

Korn Whip Out Maggots, Flames, Crucifix-Emblazoned Dress At NY Concert – Review

Mega-nü-metal bands are kinda like Microsoft. Every time they unveil a product, it’s gotta be more advanced than the last, and each new offering is accompanied with a celebration that upstages the one before. On November 15, 1999, as Korn prepared to release their fourth album, Issues, the band played a rock show at the legendary Apollo Theatre in the Harlem neighborhood of New York, a site usually foreign to rock shows. On Monday night, to christen the release of their new disc, Untouchables, the band simulcast a one-hour concert from the Hammerstein Ballroom to 40 movie theaters across the… Read more »

The trek begins at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on July 9 and has 19 engagements scheduled, winding down with a pair of shows in West Hollywood, California, on August 9 and 10, according to the band’s publicist. After enlisting the help of fans to appeal for the return of his ex-guitarist on Friday, Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst has now reported on the band’s official Web site that the plan to lure back Wes Borland has failed. “I’m glad that you people read my news recently about Mr. Borland,” he said in a post on Monday (May 27). “He’s received your emails and has responded negatively, but that’s no reason to give up. He replied by saying that 75 percent of all his emails were telling him to never be with Limp Bizkit. I’m glad some of you… Read more »

Glum Music Industry Outlook Plagues EMI

EMI Group emerged on Tuesday from a dismal year of slumping profits confident that things could only get better, but the music giant’s shares spun lower as a glum industry outlook rattled already jangled nerves. EMI, home to artists such as Radiohead and Kylie Minogue, posted a sharp but expected 40 percent fall in adjusted pre-tax profit and said its radical overhaul was going to plan despite an industry ravaged by an economic slowdown and piracy. The world’s third biggest music company saw its battered stock slide almost seven percent as analysts took fright after a post-results meeting, shrugging off… Read more »

Onyx Pay Homage To Fallen MCs, Gangsta Females On Part 2

Many artists and fans alike cite a lack of creativity for the recent glut of uninspired rap albums. Onyx blame something else: lack of energy. The bald-headed trio who exploded onto the hip-hop scene nearly a decade ago with smash singles “Throw Ya Gunz” and “Slam” from their riotous debut album, 1993’s Bacdaf-up, hope to inject the same type of kinetic energy into the rap game as they did 10 years ago. “Right now the game is fabricated with a lot of MCs that really don’t focus on a lot of energy in the streets,” said Fredro Starr, who is… Read more »

'NSYNC's Joey Fatone Talks About His Big Fat Movie

When Joey Fatone needed a break from ‘NSYNC, he decided a wedding would be nice. Nah, the singer didn’t tie the knot – he took on a role in the independent film “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” which hits theaters April 14. “Obviously [‘NSYNC] can get old or tiring after a while and you’re like, ‘I want little bit of a change,’ ” Fatone said at a screening of the movie last week. “[So you] go do a movie. Be a character. Be nutty. Be silly. Whatever the case may be. And then you’re like, ‘OK, well, now I can… Read more »
