Rock Star Hopefuls Jam Limp Bizkit Auditions

After hearing thousands of unknown hopefuls in a series of minute-long auditions, hard rock band Limp Bizkit may ask a few potential bandmates back to see if any strike the right chord, the group’s manager said on Tuesday. The band, fronted by Fred Durst and best known for its raging blend of punk, heavy metal and hip-hop, may sign a new guitarist through the open-call “Put Your Money Where Your Guitar Is” tryouts, which began in January. But the group has never guaranteed it would fill the spot left vacant when Wes Borland quit last fall. Of the nearly 5,000… Read more »

'NSYNC Member Debuts Clothing Line

Popular music has a history of influencing fashion, and ‘N Sync’s Chris Kirkpatrick is keeping that synergy alive. Kirkpatrick’s clothing line, FuMan Skeeto, had its runway debut Monday night at Girls Rule, one of the shows of New York Fashion Week, which ends Friday. FuMan Skeeto was inspired by the vintage-chic styles of New York and one-of-a-kind boutiques in Los Angeles, the 30-year-old singer explained in a statement. “No matter what is on the young female’s agenda, FuMan Skeeto is her… 24-hour clothing,” Kirkpatrick said. As is the custom for most designers, he came out at the end of the… Read more »

British music giant EMI Group Plc issued its second profits warning in six months on Tuesday and saw its stock fall 14 percent in early business as the downturn in the global music industry continued to weigh on company. Staind's Aaron Lewis Joins Linkin Park On 'Crawling' Remix

Staind singer Aaron Lewis will be heard on a new version of the Linkin Park single “Crawling” on the Southern California rap-rock band’s upcoming remix album. Lewis recorded harmonies for the song in Linkin Park’s bus on the Family Values Tour last fall, Linkin Park DJ Joseph Hahn said Thursday. Hahn described the track, remixed by vocalist Mike Shinoda, as spacey and twice as long as the three-minute original. Linkin Park are shooting for a May release date for the still-untitled album, which will feature remixes of the tracks on their debut, Hybrid Theory, the best-selling album of 2001. The… Read more »

Teenage Fanclub, Howdy! – Review

They were destined to be the next big thing before Nirvana arrived in ’91. They literally launched the career of Oasis (former label mates who called them “the best band in the world”). Those two strikes aside, Teenage Fanclub’s indie-cred, sugar-sweet melodies and twinkling guitars have forged them a fine career. But as a textbook “cult band” (under-the radar commercial success bemoaned by drooling, faithful fanbase) over six albums, the Fanclub have literally painted themselves into a power-pop corner – you know, the neighborhood where the three-chord songs about girls live. Howdy! is the beginning of the journey out of… Read more »
