With confidence, we can say that we kinda miss 2015. Life was simpler when “Uptwon Funk” by Bruno Mars ruled the charts, selfie sticks were a common accessory to carry around music festivals (for better or for worse), and Tumblr was thriving. And we can’t forget that Fall Out Boy had returned back from hiatus at this time, too. Whether you care to admit it or not, that year precedes us by an entire decade. Time flies when FOB is an active band, ya know? Uniquely, 2015 was the release year of some of the most iconic records in the… Read more »
Despite all the territory they’ve covered in their near-thirty tenure, AFI retains an impressively conspicuous identity. It’s the Tim Burton condition in which, despite rejecting the confines of any categorical genre with each new release, they have an innate flair that renders them instantly recognizable. But that’s not to say that they exist outside the realm of reasonable comparison. We scoured the alternative underground to prove that point. And while we can’t promise the recreation of that first magical moment you first heard Sing The Sorrow, we did pluck a handful of new music recommendations from the AFI ethos. Representing… Read more »
Your inner teenager is calling, and it wants you to rock out with Senses Fail and Saves The Day on their upcoming New Jersey vs. The World Tour! The 2000s emo explosion was a defining cornerstone in music history, bringing albums like Saves The Day’s Through Being Cool and Senses Fail’s Let It Enfold You. These albums were made by teens, for teens, and perfectly encapsulate the trepidatious unease that fuels the intoxicating exuberance and despair of youth. Few records have had the kind of influence on the pop-punk and emo genres as Through Being Cool did through its 1999… Read more »

‘Tis that season for us to collectively reflect on the masterful, put-it-on-repeat albums that have dropped this year. Epitaph Records newest signing, Roe Kapara, has taken the scene by storm. You may recognize him from one of many viral videos featuring Kapara sitting stoic in front of a vintage television that is playing an old cartoon or classic movie. Usually with guitar in hand, he drones the soft melodies to the viewer with lyricism that is reminiscent of a perfect blend of The Front Bottoms, Microwave and Jeremy Zucker. With many popular songs like “Preacher“, “Everyone’s Dying (Grandma’s Drunk Again)“, and “Everything’s Fine (Nuke Song)” featured on the album, Kapara still finds away to make the other tracks… Read more »
Just like music never fails to get us through a tough time, musicians did their best to soften the blow of losing out on those would-be memories via livestreams.
