European Ozzfest Cut Short By Departure Of Ozzy's Guitarist


The final seven dates of the European Ozzfest tour have been canceled after guitarist Zakk Wylde departed due to illness. Wylde, who has been playing with Ozzy’s band as well as his own Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society, was on his way back to the United States at press time, according to his publicist, who said the specifics of Wylde’s condition were unknown. The dates affected were in Zurich, Switzerland (June 8); Copenhagen, Denmark (June 10); Stockholm, Sweden (June 11); Helsinki, Finland (June 13); St. Petersburg, Russia (June 15); and Moscow, Russia (June 16). Thornton, Costello to Tour Together


Billy Bob Thornton’s counting on an Elvis sighting. The “Monster’s Ball” actor and screenwriting Oscar-winner for “Sling Blade” began a two-week, nine-city concert tour Friday showcasing his rockabilly musical roots. He announced he’s going to team up with rocker Elvis Costello on dates in Minnesota, Michigan and Ohio. Def Leppard Bringing on "X"


Def Leppard are putting the finishing touches on their tenth album, tentatively titled “X” and due later this year. The band recorded the follow-up to 1999’s Euphoria last year in Los Angeles and Sweden, with drummer Rick Allen adding his parts last December in Dublin. U2 Studio Demolition To Be Reconsidered


The fate of a Dublin studio used by U2 that was set for demolition was to be reconsidered Tuesday (January 29), thanks in part to an online petition signed by more than 2,000 fans of the Irish rock group, Reuters reports. The Dublin Docklands Development Authority was to discuss the fate of the Hanover Quay studio, at which U2 recorded its latest album, All That You Can’t Leave Behind. Sorry lasses, Bryan McFadden of Ireland’s chart-topping boy band Westlife has married his musician girlfriend Kerry Katona. Some 250 guests, including McFadden’s Westlife bandmates and former Boyzone singer Ronan Keating, attended the service Saturday. The couple, both 21, were wed at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in the County Meath village of Rathfeigh, north of Dublin.
