Default Takes Time Off After Cancellation Of Creed Tour


The members of Default have suddenly found themselves with downtime due to the cancellation of their tour with headliners Creed after a car accident injured Creed frontman Scott Stapp last week. “The band is getting some time off, which is a good thing,” says a spokesperson for Default. Webcasters Go Silent in Royalty-Rate Protest


Hundreds of Web broadcasters went silent on Wednesday in an organized protest against proposed U.S. royalty rates they say would undermine the industry and stifle innovation on the Internet. The Web radio stations started their protest at dawn to oppose rates recommended in February by a Copyright Royalty Arbitration Panel working for the U.S. Copyright Office. Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, the Librarian of Congress is required to set sound recording performance royalty rates for Web radio stations by May 21. Cher Says Upcoming Tour Will Be Her Last


Oscar-winning singer-actress Cher has announced that her upcoming tour will be the last one of her career. The Living Proof: The Farewell Tour will kick off in Toronto on June 14 and will visit more than 50 cities throughout the United States, according to tour promoter Clear Channel Entertainment. “The road is tough, but the audience makes it all worthwhile,” said the legendary singer, who will celebrate her 56th birthday on May 20. Lance Bass to Begin Space Training


With ‘N Sync’s touring behind Celebrity wrapped, Lance Bass will now turn his attention back to outer space. Bass is expected to report to Star City Russia, outside of Moscow, on May 13th to begin training for a space mission that will likely launch in November. Photographer Catches Britney Smoking


A photographer has caught pop star Britney Spears on film smoking a cigarette, after she’s been preaching for years that she was against the habit. The 20-year-old singer once told the News-Sentinel in Knoxville, Tenn., “I don’t believe in drugs or even smoking. I believe in God.” The New York Post is carrying the photo today showing the singer, dressed in short-shorts, apparently turning her back to the photographer. Thousands Gather To Say Good-Bye To Left Eye


Thousands of fans and friends gathered at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia, Thursday morning to say good-bye to flamboyant TLC singer/rapper Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. Smokin' Grooves Returning With Outkast, Lauryn Hill, Roots


After a three-year hiatus, groundbreaking hip-hop tour Smokin’ Grooves will return this summer armed with a lineup that includes Outkast, Lauryn Hill and the Roots. The outing, which will also feature West Coast rhyme slingers Jurassic 5, is scheduled to kick off July 18 near San Francisco and hit 15 major markets before wrapping up August 7 in Atlanta.
