Batson Children’s Hospital at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, in Jackson. A radio station in the area is holding a contest encouraging listeners to raise the money for the children. Dozens of small stores have been given two weeks to clear their racks of pirated CDs, tell where they got them and pay damages to the five largest record labels, an industry group said on Monday. The Recording Industry Association of America said 78 small retailers across the U.S. – mostly gas stations and convenience and grocery stores – received the demands after investigators purchased pirated CDs at their stores. A man who racked up nearly $33,000 on credit cards while using Will Smith’s identity can forget about any independence days for the next three years. Carlos Lomax of Duquesne, who pleaded guilty in September to one count of using unauthorized credit cards, was sentenced Thursday to 37 months in federal prison. Assistant U.S. Attorney Margaret Picking said Lomax, 42, opened 14 bogus credit accounts at Pittsburgh-area stores as Willard C. Papa Roach spent some time in the studio with the Neptunes last week, recording a song for the soundtrack to “Biker Boyz,” starring Laurence Fishburne and Kid Rock. Jacoby Shaddix and company shacked up with producers du jour Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo in Los Angeles’ Record Plant, according to a DreamWorks Records spokesperson. The resulting track, tentatively titled “Don’t Look Back,” is slated for the “Biker Boyz” soundtrack, due January 28. Fans at a sold-out rock show became unruly after the group Guns N’ Roses failed to appear, and police were called to the concert arena, officials said. Witnesses at the First Union Center on Friday night reported angry fans yelling and cursing, some throwing bottles and chairs, and ripping up plants, but a spokesman for the arena operator denied the accounts.
