Melisma/Atlantic recording artist Rob Thomas has announced plans for his first-ever solo concert tour. The special 11-city, cross-country itinerary heralds the April 19th release of Thomas’ debut solo album, “…SOMETHING TO BE.” The tour kicks off on Friday, April 15th at The Fillmore in San Francisco and wraps up on April 30th at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. The Vans Warped Tour has officially announced the lineup and itinerary for the 11th annual edition of the punk/skating tour. As previously reported by MTV News, the bill for the oldest touring festival in the U.S. will be topped by the Offspring and My Chemical Romance, along with the Transplants, MxPx, All-American Rejects, Dropkick Murphys, Thrice, Atreyu and Senses Fail. Los Angeles – Punk trio Green Day, up for six prizes at the Grammy Awards on Sunday will launch a five-week North American arena tour on April 15, the group’s Reprise Records label said. The 27-date trek, heavy on college towns, begins in Coral Gables, Fla. at the University of Miami’s Convocation Center, and wraps May 20 at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary. Green Day will perform during the Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and will then play New Zealand, Australia and Japan in March. With the metal world still reeling from the shocking murder of Dimebag Darrell Abbott, it seems that a second Damageplan album might be in the works. Damageplan’s manager Paul Bassman recently told Billboard.com of a nearly completed recording that the band had laid down just prior to Abbott’s death. Bassman also mentioned that according to Abbott’s brother, Damageplan drummer Vinnie Paul, the band have every intention to get the music to the fans as soon as possible. COLUMBUS, Ohio – Mourners attended a funeral Saturday for one of the four victims of a nightclub shooting, a fan of “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott who a witness said had tried to save the heavy-metal guitarist. While most concertgoers rushed for the exits after Abbott was shot by a longtime fan of his former group, Pantera, Nathan Bray jumped up on stage, held Abbott and tried to perform CPR, said Adam Vanover, 45, of Bellefontaine. “When (Bray) looked up at the shooter that’s when the shooter shot him,” Vanover said. COLUMBUS, Ohio – The man who shot former Pantera guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott and three other men to death at a nightclub was obsessed with the heavy metal band and made bizarre accusations against the group, a one-time friend said. Nathan Gale apparently believed Pantera musicians were trying to steal his identity and the lyrics to songs he had written, former friend Jeramie Brey told The Columbus Dispatch in Friday’s editions.
