In what promises to be one of the most exciting concert events of the summer season 200l, singer/songwriter Paul Simon and his 11-piece band will kick-off a 28-city tour of the United States Saturday, June 9th, at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Seattle, Washington. Blink-182 have picked a single for their forthcoming album, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, and are offering fans a sampling on their Web site. An excerpt from the song, “The Rock Show” is currently streaming at www.blink182.com, a couple weeks before its May 7th radio date and some six weeks away from the June 12th release of Jacket. The dimensions of Moby’s Area: One festival were solved Monday (April 23) when the electro-rocker unveiled lineup additions as well as dates and venues for his musically diverse roadshow. At a New York press conference, Moby heralded the addition of a side stage that will feature artists from the DJ/electronic scene, including Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox, the Orb and Timo Maas. In a bizarro battle of the bands, U2 will duke it out with an evil version of themselves in their upcoming video for “Elevation” – but not before The Edge is kidnapped by the bandmembers’ doppelg”ngers and then rescued by Angelina Jolie. The clip, to be shot this weekend in Los Angeles, will blend U2 and the upcoming “Tomb Raider” movie into one giant action piece, according to director Joseph Kahn (Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys). On Monday (February 12), the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered the wildly popular song-swap service Napster to stop its millions of users from trading copyrighted material. Calling the decision a major victory, recording industry officials and legal experts said the ruling by a three-judge panel could destroy Napster as a free song-swapping service.
