Clear Channel Radio president and chief operating officer John Hogan today announced a sweeping realignment of the radio division that becomes effective immediately. Clear Channel Radio has established eight geographic divisions within the United States, each under the leadership of a single senior vice president. Those eight divisions are subdivided into approximately 20 regions or “trading areas,” creating a new management tier of regional vice presidents (RVPs). Fandango began selling tickets today for the nation’s largest-ever live entertainment broadcast: a concert by recording groups Sugar Ray and Uncle Kracker, which will be telecast live from The Tabernacle in Atlanta, Ga., on Aug. 15. Tickets are available at www.fandango.com for 14 Cinemark Theatre locations nationwide. Tickets can be purchased at Fandango’s Web site for $15 each. For many local fans, the enduring concert memory of goth-metal rock band the Cult is of the already-declining group being thoroughly upstaged at the Forum in 1995 by Lenny Kravitz and his band, an event followed by the Cult’s breakup a few months later. Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger will release his fourth solo album in November via Virgin Records, the label announced on its Web site. For the first time in almost four years, one of Australia’s most successful rock bands, INXS, is playing a few shows in North America. But the crowd at their recent Los Angeles stop consisted of about 70 Rhino Records employees and a few reporters, just two of the band’s six members were on stage, and the bespectacled singer looked nothing like Michael Hutchence, the group’s charismatic vocalist. Atlantic Records has announced the forthcoming release of the new studio album from Tori Amos. Entitled “STRANGE LITTLE GIRLS,” this assemblage of songs is due in stores on September 18th. All the songs on the album were written by men, but are performed by Tori from the perspectives of a diverse cast of female characters. Music publishers and songwriters said Tuesday they had joined the growing list of media companies suing file-sharing company Aimster for copyright infringement, saying that the service is trying to fill the void left by Napster.
