Lava/Atlantic recording group The Click Five has unveiled the identity of their new lead singer set to appear on the group’s forthcoming, sophomore release, “Modern Minds and Pastimes.” Twenty-year-old singer/guitarist Kyle Patrick joins fellow Berklee College of Music alumni guitarist Joe Guese, bassist Ethan Mentzer, keyboardist Ben Romans and drummer Joey Zehr on the power pop sensations’ much-anticipated collection, which arrives on June 26th. “Modern Minds and Pastimes” was produced by Mike Denneen (Fountains of Wayne, Aimee Mann). For then 15-year-old Travis McCoy, high school gym class was nothing more than an excuse to chat about music with buddy Matt McGinley. McCoy, who was an aspiring rapper, was the frontman for a local band, and McGinley played drums for another in their native Geneva, N.Y. Now that the three young women in Candy Hill, a glossy rap and R&B trio, have signed a record contract, they are hoping for stardom. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame swung open its doors Monday night to the latest batch of acts ticketed for music immortality, with the Georgia alt-rock icons and the dysfunctional Pasadena party band leading the way. New tracks from Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship and Big City Rock will be found on the soundtrack for “TMNT – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Music from the Motion Picture,” due March 13 from iTunes and March 20 from traditional retail via Atlantic. Struggling music company EMI Group PLC, beset by profit warnings and an accounting scandal in Brazil, was thrown a potential lifeline Tuesday with a possible new takeover bid by former suitor Warner Music Group.
